Irit and Ernie Weir founded Hagafen Cellars in 1979. Located in the Napa Valley, Hagafen (Hebrew for grapevine) is in the heart of California's premier wine grape region. Since their first release in 1980, the Weirs have been making superb wines.
They've grown from a small partnership with Winery Lake Vineyard to a well-established winery with distribution throughout North America and overseas. Indeed, Hagafen wine has been served on numerous occasions at the White House to visiting foreign dignitaries.
Hagafen wines have won many awards throughout the wine industry. Currently, almost every release they currently sell has won gold and silver awards in competitions!
Yet, with all their success, they have not forgotten their small winery roots. Ernie says, "Our small family winery competes successfully alongside other Napa Valley wineries at wine competitions and blind wine tastings. We are proud of our success and honored to be able to produce these fine wines according to Jewish dietary laws."
Currently, Hagafen Cellars makes 8,000 cases a year of sparkling wine, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah.
